FC St. Pauli moved to within five points of the promotion-play-off place, temporarily at least, thanks to a comfortable 2-0 win away to SV Sandhausen on Saturday.

SV Sandhausen 0-2 FC St. Pauli

Goals: 0-1 Thy (8'), 0-2 Rzatkowski (40')

Determined to right the wrongs of back-to-back defeats to SC Paderborn 07 and 1. FC Heidenheim 1846, St. Pauli flew out of the traps and took an early lead when Lennart Thy headed in from Enis Alushi. It got better still for the visitors as Marc Rzatkowski added a cool second towards the end of the first half.

The hosts resorted to long-ball tactics after the break, but Pauli's well-oiled back line were largely unmoved, with second-half substitute Ranisav Jovanovic's long-range strike and an injury-time header from Aziz Bouhaddouz the only notable efforts on Pauli goalkeeper Robin Himmelmann's goal.
