Karlsruher SC and 1. FC Heidenheim 1846 dulled each other's fading promotion hopes with a 0-0 draw at the Wildparkstadion.

Karlsruher SC 0-0 1. FC Heidenheim 1846

Karlsruhe began the day in ninth, one point and one place behind Heidenheim. Both sides knew victory could propel them to the cusp of promotion contention, but it was the hosts who were brighter throughout. Boubacar Barry could have headed home his first goal since November in the opening few minutes, but his effort was kept out by Jan Zimmermann, before Dimitris Diamantakos found the power, if not the accuracy, to test the visiting goalkeeper.

Karlsruhe's Hiroki Yamada grew in influence as the game wore on, and ended the encounter with six shots on Heidenheim's goal. Zimmermann held firm, however, denying the Japanese midfielder a potential fourth goal of the campaign, and it ended 0-0 with Karlsruhe the more frustrated party.
