1. FC Heidenheim 1846 dented FC St. Pauli's promotion aspirations with a 2-0 win at the Voith-Arena.

1. FC Heidenheim 1846 2-0 FC St. Pauli

Goals: 1-0 Thomalla (71'), 2-0 Finne (81')

Heidenheim had a point to prove, having struggled to pick up points against the top teams so far this season, and they started confidently. The first chance came at the other end, though, with Enis Alushi hitting the post, before Marc Schnatterer almost gave the hosts the lead on the stroke of half-time.

The hosts started the second half with comparable vivacity, and this time their efforts were rewarded with a goal, as Denis Thomalla drilled a shot into the roof of the net after Robin Himmelmann could only parry Robert Leipertz's long-range effort. Bard Finne added a second in the 81st minute with captain Schnatterer the provider with a low cross from the left, and Heidenheim finally had a win over one of the current top four.
