Eintracht Braunschweig's faint hopes of promotion suffered another blow after a 1-1 draw with basement boys MSV Duisburg at the EINTRACHT-STADION on Matchday 25.
Knowing that, realistically, only victory would be enough to keep them in touch with the top five, Braunschweig began well and could have gone ahead in the tenth minute, but both Saulo Decarli and Marcel Correia spurned presentable chances. The hosts dominated the remainder of the first half, but were limited to harmless efforts from distance due to Duisburg's disciplined defence.
Against the run of play, Giorgi Chanturia's cool left-footed finish gave the visitors a precious lead, although Salim Khelifi's seventh goal of the season restored parity two minutes later. Both sides attacked aggressively in the closing stages, but neither were able to find a winner.
The point keeps Braunschweig sixth, while Duisburg remain five points adrift of safety at the bottom.
