RB Leipzig 3-1 1. FC Heidenheim 1846

Goals: 0-1 Leipertz (21'), 1-1 Kaiser (56'), 2-1 Poulsen (62'), 3-1 Compper (83')

Despite the return of the influential Stefan Ilsanker in midfield, Leipzig struggled to break down the organised Heidenheim defence in the opening stages. The home side's struggles were compounded when Robert Leipertz curled in to give the south-westerners a lead which they defended impressively until the break.

It took until 11 minutes after the interval for Leipzig's imposing attack to find the net, and even then Dominik Kaiser's shot required a deflection to beat Kevin Müller in the visiting goal. There was little fortune involved in the hosts' second, however, with Emil Forsberg wonderfully teeing up Yussuf Poulsen for his fifth goal of the season. Marvin Compper then made sure of victory in the closing stages as Leipzig tightened their grip on top spot.
