VfL Bochum 1848 netted three unanswered second-half goals to overcome struggling Fortuna Düsseldorf on Matchday 24.
It had started poorly for Gertjan Verbeek's visitors, however. Düsseldorf were sprightly in the opening stages, and took a deserved lead when Sercan Sararer brilliantly volleyed in Ihlas Bebou's low cross. Despite taking control after going behind, Bochum failed to trouble Fortuna keeper Michael Rensing prior to the interval.
That all changed in the second period, though. Only four minutes after Simon Terodde had restored parity for the visitors, Thomas Eisfeld bent in a brilliant free-kick from the edge of the box. Jannik Haberer then nodded home from Eisfeld's cross to round off victory and ensure Verbeek's side remain in touch at the top.
