Eintracht Braunschweig's hopes of catching the top three suffered a setback as they were held to a goalless draw at home by FSV Frankfurt.
Braunschweig still have the promotion play-off berth within their sights, but they were up against a Frankfurt side still in need of points to ensure they do not get dragged into relegation danger, and it was the visitors who showed a greater desire in the first half. Eighteen-year-old Philipp Tietz was Braunschweig's most dangerous outlet, though, and he sent the best chance of the half over the crossbar.
Tietz continued to impress in the second half, but he again missed the best chance halfway through with his shot going agonisingly wide of the far post. In the end, Frankfurt almost snatched victory when Edmond Kapllani shot, but his effort was too close to Rafal Gikiewicz. The draw takes them nine points clear of the bottom three, leaving Braunschweig seven shy of third-placed 1. FC Nürnberg.
