Bundesliga 2 strugglers SC Paderborn 07 and Fortuna Düsseldorf took a point apiece from the final game of 2015, playing out a hard-fought 0-0 draw at the Benteler-Arena.
After both sides tasted defeat last time out, caution was unsurprisingly the watchword as proceedings began slowly. Chances were few and far between in the first period, with only Joel Pohjanpalo going close for the visitors with an audacious backheel, while Paderborn were equally passive, despite enjoying the lion's share of possession.
Stefan Effenberg's side began the second period in more positive fashion with striker Nick Proschwitz spurning three excellent chances to give his side what would have been a deserved lead. Kevin Stöger also went close from a free-kick while Proschwitz wasted another opportunity late on, but Düsseldorf held on to record a valuable point, which keeps them a place above the relegation zone over the winter break. Paderborn will begin 2016 three points behind in 16th spot.
