VfL Bochum 1848 remain without a league win since the beginning of October after being held to a 1-1 draw at home to 1. FC Heidenheim.
Chances were few and far between in the opening half hour, but the visitors broke the deadlock after 32 minutes when Marc Schnatterer slammed Arne Feick’s low corner into the net from the edge of the penalty area. The hosts would have fallen 2-0 down moments later had it not been for some fine goalkeeping from Manuel Riemann, who parried Robert Leipertz’s goal-bound effort out of harm’s way.
Having struggled for the the majority of the first half, Bochum emerged all guns blazing after half time and promptly restored parity when Peniel Mlapa and Janik Haberer combined to set up Onur Bulut, who finished coolly to make it 1-1. Haberer could have won it for the hosts in the final minute of normal time, but Bochum custodian Zimmermann was equal to the 21-year-old’s effort.
