1. FC Nürnberg recorded their first league win since Matchday 8 with a 2-1 triumph over Eintracht Braunschweig on Monday evening.
There was little to separate the sides early on, with the match largely played out in a congested midfield. Goalscoring chances were few and far betweem and although the hosts had more of the ball, Braunschweig carried a greater threat at set-pieces. Nevertheless, Nürnberg managed to take the lead with their first shot of the game just after the half-hour mark, Sebastian Kerk scoring with an excellent first-time strike.
The Bavarians have had a vulnerable backline all season, however, and conceded an equaliser shortly after the break through Nik Omladic. Both teams attacked with greater conviction thereafter, but it was the home side who found the net again when Guido Burgstaller finished off a well-worked corner routine to give Nürnberg three much-needed points.
