FSV Frankfurt 1899 held 1. FC Kaiserslautern to a 1-1 draw on Matchday 15, despite ending the game with nine men.
Kaiserslautern’s first-half profligacy was punished in the 34th minute when Felipe Pires converted from close range following an incisive passing move started by Besar Halimi. The Red Devils were back on level terms soon after the restart, however, as FSV’s Florian Ballas put Chris Löwe’s cross past his own goalkeeper.
Two yellow cards apiece for FSV captain Markus Karl and defender Haji Safi hardly helped the visitors’ cause but, other than Kaiserslautern substitute Antonio Colak rattling the woodwork, Tomas Oral’s side were rarely troubled and might even have nicked all three points themselves late on through Ballas.
