Promotion-chasing duo VfL Bochum 1848 and FC St. Pauli opened Matchday 13 of the Bundesliga 2 with an entertaining 1-1 draw at the rewirpowerSTADION.
St. Pauli made the brighter start in the top-of-the-table clash, going close through Jan-Philipp Kalla in the sixth minute. The midfielder reacted quickest four minutes later, heading home Marc Rzatkowski's cross with aplomb to put his side a goal to the good. It took but two minutes for the hosts to reply, however, in-form Simon Terodde volleying home from close-range after confusion in the box.
The visitors retook the upper hand thereafter, but it took until the 68th minute for their dominance to be rewarded when the referee pointed to the penalty spot. Lasse Sobiech stepped up but sent the spot-kick over the bar, a miss which served to revive Bochum. The hosts came closest through Tim Hoogland late on, but as it was, both sides had to settle for a point.
