Fürth - SpVgg Greuther Fürth produced a workmanlike display to beat Bavarian rivals TSV 1860 Munich 1-0 in Matchday 12's Friday night opener.
The visitors, who had beaten Fürth in the sides' last four encounters, began in a manner which belied their lowly league position. Michael Liendl, Marius Wolf and Christopher Schindler all tested Sebastian Mielitz in the hosts' goal, but Stefan Ruthenbeck's side stood firm and went into the break on level terms.
The Clover Leaves emerged a different side after the restart, opening the scoring through Marco Stiepermann two minutes into the second period. Despite Rubin Okotie's best efforts up front, Fürth held 1860 at an arm's length thereafter, ensuring the Lions remain in the relegation zone for another week.
