Berlin - 1. FC Union Berlin ended their season on a high by beating Eintracht Braunschweig 2-0 on Matchday 34.

With no promotion or relegation concerns for either side, the teams played their part in a free-flowing first half. Nik Omladic tested Union goalkeeper Daniel Haas with an early effort, before Sebastian Polter wasted a golden chance at the other end to put the capital club in front from ten yards.

The hosts did break the deadlock early in the second half, though, with Eintracht's Benjamin Kessel playing the ball straight to Union defender Fabian Schönheim, who made no mistake from six yards. Polter added a well-taken second as the Berliners finished the campaign in seventh place, three points behind Eintracht, who hit the post late on through Jan Hochscheidt.
