Bochum - VfL Bochum 1848 and SV Sandhausen failed to produce any drama or excitement on the final day of the season as the spoils were shared between the two in a goalless draw on Matchday 34.

Sandhausen knew that only a heavy defeat and a bizarre twist of fate at the bottom could result in them falling foul of the drop zone, but almost fell behind early as Manuel Riemann was forced to make a smart save in a one-on-one situation against Michael Gregoritsch. Chances were at a premium, but the visitors were pressing well and almost caught Bochum out when Andrew Wooten beat three men only for Michael Esser to keep out his eventual effort.

Having had just four shots on goal between them in the first half, neither side came out of the dressing rooms with any sense of urgency. Marco Terrazzino tried to spark the encounter into life shortly after the hour mark, but could not get the better of Riemann, while Alexander Beieler could only hit the side netting from a tight angle at the other end, as both sides ended up settling for a end-of-season stalemate.
