Fürth - SpVgg Greuther Fürth moved out of the bottom three courtesy of a 1-0 win over ten-man SV Darmstadt 98.

The visitors struggled to create much from open play in a tight first half, although Ronny König, Leon Balogun and Hanno Behrens all spurned reasonable opportunities from set plays. Fürth themselves had offered precious little as an attacking unit, but got their noses in front in the 61st minute when Marco Stiepermann curled in an unstoppable free kick from 25 yards.

Darmstadt appeared to run out of steam after Roman Bregerie headed straight at Wolfgang Hesl, before collecting his second booking of the afternoon for a foul on Stiepermann. Fürth will definitely be safe if they beat RB Leipzig next weekend, while Darmstadt host relegation-threatened FC St. Pauli looking for the three points that would seal their place in the Bundesliga.
