Nuremberg - 1. FC Nürnberg dealt Eintracht Braunschweig a blow in their promotion push with a 3-1 success at the Grundig Stadion.

The hosts were on top from the early exchanges and they could have taken the lead when Guido Burgstaller sent his shot just wide of the far post. The Bavarians did not have to wait too long before taking the lead, though, with Javier Pinola's cross turned into his own goal by Ken Reichel after half an hour.

Danny Blum added a second early after the restart with a left-footed shot and Burgstaller made it three midway through the second period, converting after Alessandro Schöpf's effort came back to him off the post. Emil Berggreen pulled one back for Braunschweig, but the visitors could not muster any more than that, leaving them off the pace in the race for third.
