Aalen - VfR Aalen slumped to the foot of the Bundesliga 2 table after losing 4-2 at home to VfL Bochum at the Scholz Arena.

Onur Bulut opened the scoring for the visitors after 16 minutes, but the 21-year-old was dismissed just two minutes later after grappling with Arne Feick, who was also given his marching orders by the referee. Simon Terodde's 17th goal of the season made it 2-0 to Gertjan Verbeek's side, before Marco Terrazzino grabbed Bochum's third nine minutes into the second half.

A Collin Quaner own goal looked to have ended the game as a contest, but two late goals from Markus Steinhöfer and Orhan Ademi gave the hosts hope of an unlikely comeback. It was too little too late for Aalen, however, who slip to the foot of the table with three games left to play.
