Fürth - SpVgg Greuther Fürth ended a nine-game winless run by posting a priceless 3-0 victory over Fortuna Düsseldorf on Sunday to boost their hopes of staving off relegation.

The first half was not much of a spectacle for fans at the Stadion am Laubenweg, with proceedings dominated by thundering tackles in midfield and hopeful punts forward. However, the Clover Leaves edged ahead just before the half-hour mark when Marco Stiepermann slotted in from 15 yards, giving the hosts the lead at the break.

There was very little at stake for the visitors, but with survival on the line for Fürth, they started the second half strongly. Robert Zulj doubled their advantage within minutes of the restart and when Goran Sukalo added a third in the 66th minute the match was effectively killed off as a contest. The result leaves Mike Büskens' men three points above the drop zone with three games left.
