Darmstadt - SV Darmstadt 98 put themselves firmly back into the promotion reckoning courtesy of a 3-2 win over 1. FC Kaiserslautern at the Stadion am Böllenfalltor on Matchday 31.

Only promoted into Bundesliga 2 this season, Darmstadt's fairytale campaign looked to be coming to a premature end when Kerem Demirbay gave the visitors the lead after 13 minutes. Dirk Schuster's troops battled back, however, equalising through Romain Bregerie from the penalty spot before Ronny König's right-footed finish put the hosts ahead in the 22nd minute. Hanno Behrens even made it three prior the break.

Kaiserslautern emerged with renewed vigour for the second period, and threatened several times through Markus Karl and the influential Philipp Hofmann. Darmstadt's defence stood firm in the face of the visitors' relentless pressure, however, and although Kevin Stöger reduced the arrears in the closing stages, the hosts held on to secure a crucial three points in the race for the Bundesliga.
