Heidenheim - 1. FC Heidenheim 1846 all but secured their Bundesliga 2 status for another season following a 2-1 victory at home to bottom club FC St. Pauli Hamburg.

Chances were at a premium in a nip-tuck first half, with Heidenheim goalkeeper Jan Zimmermann making the only real save of note to keep out Marcel Halstenberg from range.

Zimmermann was in the thick of the action after the restart, pushing another Halstenberg effort onto the post after Robert Leipertz had given Heidenheim the lead. Marc Schnatterer made it two from the penalty spot, but it was a nervy finish for the hosts as Christopher Nöthe struck the woodwork, before pulling a consolation goal back deep into added time.
