Frankfurt - VfR Aalen moved off the bottom of the Bundesliga 2 table but are still in the thick of the relegation battle after drawing 1-1 away to FSV Frankfurt.

The visitors went into the game on the back of a six-game unbeaten run, but as four of those fixtures had ended in stalemates they have been unable to pull clear of the drop zone. They battled hard at the Volksbank Stadion but were unable to carve out any openings before the hosts took the lead in first-half stoppage time when Amine Aoudia struck.

Aalen were brighter after the break and deservedly got an equaliser midway through the half thanks to Markus Steinhöfer's second goal of the season. Both teams pushed for a winner late on but there was no further change to the scoreline, leaving Aalen level on points with 18th-placed St. Pauli.
