Heidenheim - 1. FC Heidenheim 1846 prevailed 1-0 over fellow promoted outfit RB Leipzig at the Voith Arena on Matchday 26.

Florian Niederlechner and Robert Leipertz set Frank Schmidt's side off to a fast start, but it was Leipzig who came to dominate the opening 45 minutes. The visitors peppered Jan Zimmermann's goal with shots, but the hosts' custodian was equal to efforts from Emil Forsberg, Omer Damari and FC Bayern München-bound Joshua Kimmich.

Heidenheim emerged with renewed vigour after the restart, and Niederlechner converted in the 51st minute to give them the lead. Yussuf Poulsen almost responded immediately, but it was Schmidt's troops who came closest to the second goal through Marcel Titsch-Rivero and Marc Schnatterer. In closing the game out confidently, Heidenheim ended a run of four straight home defeats.
