Karlsruhe - Local rivals and promotion hopefuls Karlsruher SC and 1. FC Kaiserslautern played out a tense 0-0 draw at the Wildparkstadion on Matchday 26.

With precious points in the promotion battle, as well as south-western pride on the line, Karlsruher made a ferocious start. Rouwen Hennings and Enrico Valentini had the guests on the back foot early, but after Kerem Demirbay and Philipp Hofmann fired warning shots at home custodian Dirk Orlishausen, the first half turned into a more balanced affair with the sides battling for control in midfield.

Proceedings continued in similar fashion after the break, with the Red Devils' Jean Zimmer coming closest to breaking the deadlock when he struck the post with a brilliant long-range strike on the hour mark. His effort was the cue for the visitors to up the ante, with substitute Simon Zoller and Demirbay also threatening to break Markus Kauczinski's side's stubborn resistance. As it was however, neither side gave an inch, and the battle for promotion remains wide open.
