Aue - FC Erzgebirge Aue climbed off the foot of the Bundesliga 2 table after a goalless draw against SpVgg Greuther Fürth.

The home side were without a win in four games coming into the encounter, but knew that a victory would take them level on points with VfR Aalen in the relegation play-off place. Nevertheless, in the first half the Saxon side showed little in the way of urgency against a Fürth side themselves straying dangerously close to the drop zone.

Aue upped their intensity in the second period and Stefan Mugosa came closest to an opener, firing at goalkeeper Wolfgang Hesl after a lovely turn inside a defender. The Franconians had a goal ruled out for offside at the other end, but in truth neither side did enough to win it. However, the point takes the Violets above FC St. Pauli and into 17th place, courtesy of goal difference.
