Berlin - 1. FC Union Berlin added to FC St. Pauli's relegation fears after securing a late 1-0 victory at the Stadion an der Alten Försterei on Matchday 26.

With the hosts evidently lacking in confidence, lowly St. Pauli made a bright start. Jan-Phillip Kalla and Marc Rzatkowski were lively going forward, while both Dennis Daube and Julian Koch came close to opening the scoring in a dominant first half-hour. However, Norbert Düwel's side grew into the game, and ended the half in control, with Croatian midfielder Damir Kreilach wasting a good opportunity.

The encounter became more hard fought after the break, with few chances falling to either side. Sebastian Polter could have given the hosts the lead in the 58th minute, but otherwise, the back lines were on top. It took a mistake to settle proceedings, with visiting custodian Robin Himmelman miskicking a clearance in the final minute allowing Polter to tap into a empty net for his tenth goal of the season and end his side's poor run of form.
