Ingolstadt - Karlsruher SC threw the Bundesliga 2 title race wide open on Sunday afternoon with a 3-1 victory away to league leaders FC Ingolstadt 04.

In an evenly-balanced encounter, the visitors took the lead shortly after the half-hour mark when Daniel Gordon thundered in a header from Enrico Valentini's corner. Ingolstadt increased the pressure afterwards in search of an equaliser, which they found on the stroke of half-time when Moritz Hartmann also netted a header from a corner.

The hosts took the momentum that created into the second period and very nearly went in front when Hartmann's curling short from the edge of the area struck a post. Karlsruher managed to weather the storm, however, and set up a nail-biting finale when Rouwen Hennings scored their second from a swift counterattack in the 82nd minute. Ingolstadt threw everything forward in an effort to restore parity, but were again caught out on the break by Hennings, who rifled in a superb third to hand victory to Karlsruher, moving them to within five points of the leaders.
