Kaiserslautern - 1. FC Kaiserslautern moved to within three points of Bundesliga 2 leaders FC Ingolstadt 04 with a 2-1 home win over 1. FC Nürnberg.

Ondrej Petrak forced the first save of the game out of Kaiserslautern's Tobias Sippel, but it was the Red Devils who took the lead after 15 minutes. Patrick Rakovsky was slow to react as Willi Orban's header struck the upright, allowing Alexander Ring to prod the ball over the line from close range.

The Nürnberg stopper was again caught out of position for Kaiserslautern's second, with Philipp Hofmann grabbing his fourth of the season after Chris Löwe's long-range shot had come back off the crossbar. Jean Zimmer almost added a third seven minutes from time, before Alessandro Schöpf struck against the run of play with a late consolation.
