Bochum - VfL Bochum 1848 turned on the style at the Rewirpowerstadion on Matchday 25 as they emerged 4-1 victors over 1. FC Heidenheim 1846.

In traditional fashion, hosts Bochum burst out of the blocks and found themselves two goals to the good by the 20-minute mark, Simon Terodde and Stanislav Sestak netting after poor Heidenheim defending. However, despite their dominance, the hosts' familiar defensive shortcomings returned to haunt them minutes before the break, when Robert Leipertz converted a penalty to offer Heidenheim hope for the second half.

That hope only lasted until the 70th minute, though. Despite seeing plenty of the ball, Florian Niederlechner and Marc Schnatterer were unusually wasteful in front of goal, while at the other end Sestak capitalised on a defensive slip to complete his brace. Michael Gregoritsch's finish four minutes later ensured the three points went to Bochum, and made Jan Zimmermann's late save from Terodde's penalty nothing but academic.
