Darmstadt - SV Darmstadt 98 kept up the pace at the top of the Bundesliga 2 table courtesy of a resounding 5-0 over ten-man 1. FC Union Berlin at the Stadion am Böllenfalltor.

The promotion-chasing hosts imposed themselves from the very first whistle and while visitors Union were passive, Dirk Schuster's second-placed side were proactive and creative. Marcel Heller and Ronny König both threatened before Leon Balogun headed in the opener after 34 minutes. The capital-city side's evening went from bad to worse in first-half injury time when goalkeeper Mohamed Amsif saw red and Romain Bregerie converted the resultant penalty.

It took Schuster's men 11 minutes of the second period to capitalise on their man advantage, Milan Ivana finishing classily after Union failed to clear a bouncing ball. Sebastian Polter missed an excellent opportunity to restore some confidence for the capital city side moments afterwards, but captain Aytac Sulu's late headed brace after Darmstadt dominated the closing stages was nothing less than a deserved ending for the partisan home crowd to celebrate.
