Düsseldorf - There were no less than four first-half goals as VfL Bochum 1848 held promotion candidates Fortuna Düsseldorf to a 2-2 draw at the ESPRIT-Arena.

Stanislav Sestak set the tone for things to come, firing home from 15 yards out after just nine minutes, but Bochum's lead was not to last. Axel Bellinghausen swung over a cross for Charlison Benschop, who beat Michael Esser to the ball to level the scores. Benschop was involved again as Fortuna flipped the contest on its head, drawing the foul from Esser as the referee pointed to the spot. Michael Liendl tucked away the ensuing penalty, only for Sestak to equalise late in the half from close range.

The chances dried up somewhat after the restart, save another effort from Sestak that came back off the woodwork, as Fortuna were forced to settle for a draw that leaves them five points adrift of the promotion play-off spot ahead of the weekend's remaining fixtures.
