Aue - FC Ingolstadt cemented their position at the top of the Bundesliga 2 table with a 3-0 win at relegation-threatened FC Erzgebirge Aue.

There was precious little in the way of goalmouth action in the first 45 minutes at the Sparkassen-Erzgebirgstadion, but the league leaders almost took the lead midway through the first half when Lukas Hinterseer’s scrambled effort was cleared off the goalline by Aue midfielder Fabian Müller.

The visitors did break the deadlock twenty minutes into the second half. Vladimir Rankovic could only clear a deep right-wing cross straight to the feet of Stefan Lex, who swivelled and turned a powerful effort past Martin Männel and into the net. Alfredo Morales made it 2-0 in the 77th minute, directing a smart header into the bottom corner, before Moritz Hartmann’s late penalty added gloss to the scoreline in second-half stoppage time.
