Nuremberg - Promotion-chasing duo 1. FC Nürnberg and Karlsruher SC were forced to settle for a point apiece after an end-to-end game finished 1-1 at the Grundig Stadion.

Aiming to make up ground on Karlsruher, Rene Weiler's Nürnberg side got off to the perfect start when Guido Burgstaller netted his first goal for der Club with the game only four minutes old. As they would throughout, the hosts dominated, but struggled in front of goal after Peniel Mlapa was taken off injured and when Rouwen Hennings latched onto Hiroki Yamada's pass seconds before the break, parity was restored.

The hosts emerged re-energised and set about trying to retake their lead. Alessandro Schöpf saw his effort cleared off the line in the 72nd minute, before Danny Blum struck the woodwork in the final seconds of normal time. It wasn't to be, however, as the visitors survived the second-half onslaught to remain two points off the promotion play-off place, with Weiler's side five points adrift.
