Aalen - Bundesliga 2 leaders FC Ingolstadt 04 were forced to come from behind to clinch a 1-1 draw on the road against relegation-threatend VfR Aalen.

Both sides cancelled each other out during the opening exchanges, though with Aalen intent of stifling the league leaders and offering little in terms of a threat going forward, the onus was on Ingolstadt to dictate proceedings. Pascal Groß drew a strong save out of Daniel Bernhardt with a well struck free-kick before finding Stefan Lex, who could only hit the side netting from a tight angle as they sides went in at the break stuck in a stalemate.

Ingostadt came out of the changing rooms with real purpose, but saw their good work come undone when Orhan Ademi was clattered into by Ramazan Özcan, whose fingertips couldn't prevent Jürgen Gjasula's penalty finding the back of the net. The visitors almost produced an immediate response through Alfredo Morales' header, but drew level in the 77th minute when Mathew Leckie beat his man for pace to fire into the bottom corner, ensuring the league leaders avoided an upset in Aalen.
