Kaiserslautern - 1. FC Kaiserslautern beat SV Sandhausen 1-0 at the Fritz Walter Stadion on Matchday 19 to end 2014 on a successful note.

It took the hosts 17 minutes to click into gear, at which point Amin Younes was brought down in the box by Seyi Olajengbesi, but Karim Matmour's subsequent penalty was well saved by Manuel Riemann in the Sandhausen goal. The visitors then recomposed themselves, and denied the Red Devils any goalscoring opportunities before the break.

Philipp Hofmann twice tested Riemann after half time, but the opener wasn't forthcoming until the 73rd minute. Matmour's cross from the right flank was met by the young striker, who converted with his chest to give his side a deserved lead for their enterprising second half. Markus Karl missed a late chance to double the lead, as Kaiserslautern ensured their fans ended the year dreaming of promotion.
