Munich - A late equaliser denied TSV 1860 Munich all three points as Markus Karl's 86th-minute strike at the Allianz Arena rescued 1. FC Kaiserslautern a point on Wednesday night.

The Red Devils carved out all the early chances, but despite having their hosts pinned inside their own half conceded the opening goal when Yannick Stark's looping header found the far corner in the 26th minute. Guillermo Vallori then had two goal-bound headers saved by Tobias Sippel, who was instrumental in keeping Kaiserslautern in the game.

Dominance of possession continued to do little for the visitors even after the break, with Ruben Jenssen and Kerem Demirbay going closest to an equaliser with two of Kaiserslautern's sporadic chances. However, the pressure finally told late on as Karl poked home from four yards following a goalmouth scramble, rescuing a point for the promotion hopefuls.
