Braunschweig - Eintracht Braunschweig left it late to get the better of Fortuna Düsseldorf with a last-gasp 2-1 win at the Eintracht-Stadion.

Full-back Benjamin Kessel scored the all-important goal for Torsten Lieberknecht's men in the second minute of stoppage time after Ben Halloran cancelled out Havard Nielsen's opener.

All of the action was reserved for the second half with tactical chess seeing neither side get far in the first 45 minutes. That changed after the break when Nielsen fired through the legs of goalkeeper Lars Unnerstall to give Eintracht the lead. Düsseldorf's response was almost immediate, however, Australia international Halloran poking home from close range after Joel Pohjanpolo's header had struck the woodwork. It was Kessel who had the final say with a finely struck volley that sent the home fans into raptures, and lifted Braunschweig above their guests in the table.
