Ingolstadt - FC Ingolstadt established a six-point advantage at the top of Bundesliga 2 at the midway stage of the season thanks to a 2-0 win over 1. FC Kaiserslautern.

In picking up another victory, Ralph Hasenhüttl's men also put eight points between themselves and one of their rivals for promotion to the Bundesliga thanks to goals from Lukas Hinterseer and Stefan Lex.

Hinterseer gave the hosts the lead early in the second half after the Red Devils had arguably shaded the first half, meeting Pascal Groß' free-kick to score from close range. Kaiserslautern's hopes of recovering were dealt a blow when Amin Younes picked up a second booking on the hour mark, but it took Ingolstadt until the 84th minute for Lex to lift his shot over Tobias Sippel and put the seal on Ingolstadt's win and consolidate top spot for the Bavarians with a sizeable cushion.
