Braunschweig - A spanner was thrown in the works of Eintracht Braunschweig's promotion push by 1. FC Union Berlin on Matchday 17 as they came away from the Eintracht-Stadion with a point in a 1-1 draw.

Seung-Woo Ryu gave the hosts the lead midway through the first half when he was picked out in space by Benjamin Kessel after a neat exchange with Raffael Korte, and the South Korean knocked the ball in from close range. Braunschweig's joy was short lived, though, with Maximilian Thiel levelling just five minutes later with a powerful shot from the edge of the area, leaving Rafal Gikiewicz no chance.

Ryu could have restored Braunschweig's lead in the second half, but his shot hit the post. Neither side then found the ideas to snatch a winner, leaving them with a point each with Union arguably happier with their bounty.
