Berlin - FC Union Berlin leapfrogged FSV Frankfurt in the Bundesliga 2 standings with a 2-1 win at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei on Matchday 16.

Union showed greater desire than their guests, who appeared keen just to defend their two-point advantage coming into the game. Steven Skrzybski and Sebastian Polter had the best chances of the first half, which despite the host' best efforts ended goalless.

It took just over a minute of the second half for Skrzybski to put Union in front, scoring on the turn from Polter's pass. Frankfurt had to drop their defensive tactics and fight back for a point, but this freed up more space for Union to exploit, and they doubled their lead through Maximilian Thiel, who converted Skrzybski's fine throughball. Edmond Kapllani grabbed a late consolation for Frankfurt, but the points had already been put in the bank by Berlin.
