The club's board of directors met on Monday evening to come to a decision on the future of the 39-year-old after a poor start to the season had left the club in 14th position.
"After extensive consultation the board of directors has opted to relieve head coach Valerien Ismael of his duties," stated chairman of the board, Dr. Thomas Grethlein. "We thank him for all his hard work and wish him the best for the future."
Under Ismael's leadership, der Club picked up four wins in 13 league games, but only one point from their last three encounters. Fitness coach Markus Zidek and goalkeeping coach Daniel Klewer will take temporary charge until a new head coach is appointed.
