Aalen - Struggling 1. FC Union Berlin demonstrated great character to overturn a half-time deficit as they registered their first away win of the season by beating VfR Aalen 2-1 on foreign soil, their first victory of the season on their travels.

Clear-cut chances were at a premium throughout much of the first period, with both sides lacking a cutting edge in the final third. Union were quick to pull the trigger, yet rarely caused Jasmin Fejzic much trouble with their half-hearted attempts. However, somewhat against the run of play, Aalen struck six minutes before the break, Andre Hainhault slamming the ball into the roof of the net from Sascha Mockehaupt's flick on.

Galvanised by taking the lead on the cusp of half-time, the hosts' should have doubled their advantage, but there was no one on the end of Oliver Barth's drilled cross, while Andreas Ludwig fired wastefully over in a one-on-one situation. Instead, it was Union who hit back when Toni Leistner headed home from Benjamin Köhler's free-kick and, galvanised by their equaliser, grabbed a winner 20 minutes from time, Sören Brandy beating Fezjic with an acrobatic attempt to hand the capital city side their third win of the season.
