Fürth - Promoted Karlsruher SC continued their unexpected assault on the top of the standings, coming away from second-placed SpVgg Greuther Fürth with a 1-1 draw at the end of a pulsating encounter.

KSC remain just outside the top three ahead of the main weekend programme, while the two dropped points leave Fürth three points shy of pace-setters 1. FC Köln.

The visitors went in front 19 minutes into the contest and directly after Fürth had passed up a gilt-edged double opportunity to take the lead themselves, Reinhold Yabo nodding home from close range at the far post. A power outage on the half-hour mark heralded an unscheduled 15-minute break and shortly after play resumed, Selcuk Alibaz rattled the post for the hosts from a free kick.

Zoltan Stieber did likewise minutes after the restart and from there on in it was one-way traffic in the direction of the Karlsruhe goal. Going into the final ten minutes, the visitors looked like they might yet weather the storm, but that was before Benedikt Röcker marked his league debut for the Cloverleaves by heading home from a corner to earn them a share of the spoils, certainly well-merited on the balance of chances created.
