Cottbus - FC Energie Cottbus spiked Arminia Bielefeld's impressive early-season run, ending a five-game winless streak of their own in the process as they edged a six-goal thriller at the Stadion der Freundschaft on Matchday 9.

A double strike from Stiven Rivic and Marco Stiepermann shortly after the half-hour mark put the hosts firmly in the driving seat, but goals from Fabian Klos and Patrick Schönfeld hauled Bielefeld level after the interval. Substitute Charles Takyi promptly fired Energie back in front, however, and Thomas Hübener's own-goal inside the final ten minutes made the result safe for Cottbus.

Arminia battle back

Cottbus passed up the chance to go in front in the 26th minute when guest keeper Patrick Platins kept out an Ivica Banovic penalty, awarded for a handball by Schönfeld. Stiepermann's turn-on-a-sixpence laid on the opener for Rivic minutes later, however, and the Cottbus No10 turned executioner right on the back of that, drilling home a great finish in the 34th minute.

Klos got Bielefeld back into it eleven minutes after the restart, heading home from a corner, and with quarter of an hour to go Schönfeld scrambled in the equaliser. Inside of three minutes, Takyi curled in a precise finish to put Energie back in front and when Hübener inadvertently diverted Alexander Bittroff's cross into his own net, it was game over.
