Cologne - Marcel Risse scored twice as 1. FC Köln notched a 2-0 win at home to struggling SV Sandhausen.

It took Peter Stöger’s men 55 minutes to break the deadlock, by which time the fans could have been forgiven for fearing the worst after three draws in the first three games of the season, but after Risse opened his account, it was downhill for the visitors.

The relief inside the RheinEnergieStadion was palpable, even more so when referee Bibiana Steinhaus pointed to the penalty spot after having shown Tim Kister a red card. Risse stepped up and shot emphatically past Riemann to seal Köln’s first win of the campaign.
