Cottbus - FC Energie Cottbus needed just 45 minutes to register their first win of the season in emphatic style, cooling down a little after the break having already secured a 4-0 win over SC Paderborn.

Boubacar Sanogo gave Cottbus an ideal start, slotting the ball into the roof of the net after only a few minutes. Alexander Bittroff made it two before eight minutes had been played, Lukas Kruse unable to do anything more than to palm his shot into the top corner of his goal.

Sanogo then made it three for Cottbus, taking his personal tally to two, persisting after his first shot was blocked to send the rebound into the bottom corner. And he completed his hat-trick before half-time, effectively deciding the game in the process. Paderborn tried to limit the damage in the second half, succeeding in preventing Cottbus from adding to what was already a comprehensive scoreline.
