Dresden - Peter Stöger's first competitive game in charge of 1. FC Köln ended in disappointment as a gritty SG Dynamo Dresden punished the visitors' profligacy to take a share of the spoils in a 1-1 draw.

With both sides enjoying their fair share of possession, there was little to separate the two early on in the encounter. Köln looked the more likely to score as Anthony Ujah headed just wide from a free-kick by Yannick Gerhardt, who had a clear cut chance blocked with time ticking down in the first half. Stöger's charges maintained their grip on proceedings and reaped the rewards when Miso Brecko's shot was saved by Kirsten only for the rebound to fall to Ujah who climbed above his marker to head home at the back post.

However, Dresden weren't content to accept defeat and snatched their chance when Köln goalkeeper Timo Horn got himself in a world of trouble, juggling the ball inside his own area before losing possession, allowing Tobias Kempe to lob into an empty net. The visitors pushed forward late on, but having had 23 shots on goal, couldn't turn their chances into a winning goal as they were forced to settle for a point.
