Ingolstadt - FC Erzgebirge Aue got their 2013/14 Bundesliga 2 campaign off to a near-perfect start as summer signing Jakub Sylvestr put in a man of the match performance during a 2-1 win away to FC Ingolstadt 04 on the opening day of the season.

There was little between the two sides during the opening exchanges, but a loose back pass from Alfredo Morales allowed Sylvestr to ghost in, roll the ball between the legs of the onrushing Ramazan Özcan and open his account for the new season. The hosts pushed forward in search of an equaliser and were handed a lifeline just before half time when Arvydas Novikovas commited a second-bookable offence. However, Ingolstadt struggled to capitalise on having an extra man and instead fell further behind when Morales was sent off for bringing down Sylvestr inside the box. The striker brushed himself off to bag his brace from the spot and though Danilo Soares pulled a goal back for Marco Kurz's side, it was too little too late for Ingolstadt as Aue walked away with all three points.
