Aalen - VfR Aalen have appointed Stefan Ruthenbeck as their new head coach.

The Cologne native has put pen to paper on a deal that runs until 30 June 2016, following former coach Ralph Hasenhüttl's resignation earlier this month.

"Highly skilled"

"We're really happy that we've been able to capture our No1 candidate," said Aalen sporting director Markus Schupp. "The club know him well, he's highly skilled and has the ability to help each and every player develop their game."

The 41-year-old takes charge of first-team affairs, having recently guided the reserves to the regional league title and promotion to the German football league.
