Regensburg - 1. FC Kaiserslautern ensured third spot and a crack at an immediate return to the Bundesliga with a 3-1 victory away to already-relegated SSV Jahn Regensburg.

Erwin Hoffer got the Red Devils off to the perfect start at the Jahn-Stadion and Mohamadou Idrissou soon doubled the away side's lead with his 17th league goal of the season, before Philipp Ziereis took advantage of some questionable defending to reduce the arrears for Regensburg.

Third place in the bag

However, young Willi Orban rose to head in Alexander Baumjohann's cross for his first senior goal midway through the second period to confirm the victory and take Lautern four points clear of fourth-placed FSV Frankfurt, setting up a clash with the team which finishes third-bottom in the Bundesliga for the right to top-flight football next term.
